Show HN: Opine, a public polling website with maps

Hacker News - Sun, 09/13/2026 - 4:43pm

Hi, I made Opine (https://opinepolls.com), a poll-based social media site. Each post is a public poll asking users their opinion on something, anonymously, so no user sees any other user's information, but you can freely browse other polls. Private polls can also be made.

The only information actually stored is the email, from Google sign in, and an approximate location for the map feature, if you enable it. This allows you to see a world map of votes, what opinions are present in what places.

The intent is to catalog the world's opinions, organizing people's public thoughts so they're easy to sift through. This data can be extremely valuable, whether it's political polling, information about people's preferences, trends over time, and so on. Many people could benefit from this, and it's meant as a public service, to lift the veil on what people think about any topic, at any time. Easier political polling is just one obvious application of this.

Please try it out and give any feedback, thoughts, questions, and so on, here or within the profile section on the website, which is fully anonymous. Thanks.

Show HN: Pinocchio: Harness for Verifiable Work

Hacker News - Sun, 09/13/2026 - 3:12pm

Hey HN, we've been trying to solve LLM Hallucinations. So we built Pinocchio.

Pinocchio is a research preview for AI outputs with provenance and verification built in.

Give it a task and source material. For numerics, the values used in the computation are carried directly from the source rather than regenerated by the model across reasoning steps. Pinocchio records the computations and derivations applied to them, and a deterministic verifier can replay and check the resulting computation.

The output retains a connection to: • the exact source inputs used • the operations performed on them • the intermediate and final results they produced • the checks those results passed

Every output points back to its sources. You can trace it backwards through its derivation and sources.

Really looking forward to what you guys think about this.

P.S. we're limiting to one run at a time. Other than there are no other restrictions. It does take a while though, so I'd let it be and check back in a while.
