Cornelius Vanover is the earliest proven ancestor of *the Vanover family. He was
born presumably in Flanders , Holland, about 1640 - 50. He died in1691, in Flatbush,
Kings County, Long Island, New York. In his will which is dated March 5, 1689/90,
Cornelius named his wife in the typical Dutch fashion. Her name was Maria Winterslick.
He also named his only heir, Cornelius, the younger. The Flatbush Church records show
that Cornelius and Maria (Winterslick) Vanover had at least two otherchildren. They died
young and have not been identified by name, gender, or age. Cornelius was a cooper
by trade. He and his family emigrated about 1684 to Midwout (Flatbush), Kings County,
Long Island, New York

Note for: Benjamin Dugger, 1749 -
Index
Individual Note: [family tree.FTW]
Benjamin Dugger was born ca 1747 or earlier, probably in Brunswick Co, VA. He first appeared on the public records in 1768 when his father William deeded him some livestock in Pittsylvania (now Henry) Co, VA. By 1772 Benjamin was listed on the Surry Co, NC tax list. He was again listed there in 1774 and 1775. He lived near Elk Creek near the border of modern Wilkes and Watauga Co, NC. Around 1802 Benjamin moved to Ashe Co, NC (now Watauga) and settled on Brushy Fork creek, which is just west of modern day Boone, NC. .
Most of Benjamin's children are proven by deeds among the heirs in 1815 Ashe Co, NC. The rest are based on published accounts. Benjamin Dugger and Julius Dugger (1760) were adjoining land owners in Wilkes Co, NC. Benjamin's daughter Celia Dugger (1785-1855) married Lawson Goodwin, son of Mary Dugger (1750/60). This more or less ties Benjamin in with Julius and Mary as probable siblings. William Dugger (1750) named one of his children Benjamin. William was also listed with Benjamin on the 1775 Surry Co, NC tax list apparently in the same household.
